What is the Young Leaders Society (YLS)?

The mission of the Young Leaders Society is to promote and encourage the spirit of philanthropy and volunteerism of United Way supporters in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s.  Members of the United Way Young Leaders Society are committed, compassionate and generous individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact throughout our community.

Connect.
Young Leaders Society provides a variety of opportunities to meet with other individuals with similar professional and community interests.  Members benefit from exclusive networking, social opportunities, and special United Way leadership events throughout the year.

Serve.
Young leaders want to be involved and make a difference.  Through YLS, young leaders can volunteer for causes that make a difference, often while having fun with peers. Members are provided the opportunity to volunteer for both long and short-term activities.  There may also be family based service projects for you to get to know other families with similar interests and values.

Lead.
United Way recognizes that young leaders can make a significant impact on helping tackle root causes of community problems.  Through volunteering on critical issues, valuable leadership skills are built that can be put to use in the workplace or in personal lives. YLS membership provides an exclusive invitation to attend personal and professional development presentations by leaders in their fields.

Who can become a member of the Young Leaders Society?
Membership to the YLS is open to community oriented individuals or couples in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s who wish to make an impact in one of the following ways:

• Contribute a combined annual United Way campaign pledge of at least Silver level of the Gaslight Society ($750).

• Contribute a combined annual gift of $300 with a commitment to step-up the contribution to Gaslight level within five years or by the age of 40.

• Contribute an annual gift of $300 and perform volunteer community service organized by the Young Leaders Society.
